Commercial cleaning questions.

Scope, scheduling and pricing answers before you request a proposal.

How much do janitorial and day porter services cost in San Diego?

MEI Commercial publishes a $42–$55 hourly range per employee only for janitorial and day porter contracts over 3 hours per service day, 3–7 days per week. Shorter visits and other schedules are quoted separately. Staffing, frequency and access affect the proposal. This is not the pricing method for carpet extraction, deep cleaning, post-construction or other specialty projects, which are assessed by cleanable area, condition and detail.

What is the difference between a janitorial program and a day porter?

A janitorial program follows scheduled cleaning tasks for agreed rooms and surfaces. A day porter provides defined support while a property is operating, such as restroom checks, restocking, litter rounds and attention to common areas. The proposal identifies staff hours and priorities; porter service does not automatically include maintenance trades or specialty projects.

What is included in recurring cleaning?

Your proposal identifies the areas, tasks, and frequencies included. Typical scopes cover accessible surfaces, waste removal, restrooms, floors, and shared spaces. Interior appliances, high-level work, floor restoration, and other detail tasks should be listed separately when needed.

Why isn’t square footage enough for a final quote?

Two equally sized properties may require very different labor. Room layout, restrooms, furniture, occupancy, surface types, buildup, service frequency, and access all affect the work. The walkthrough establishes the actual scope so your proposal reflects the work your property needs.

Can you work around our business hours?

We discuss access and scheduling during the assessment. Before-hours, after-hours, and daytime options depend on staffing and the property’s requirements. Sending an inquiry does not reserve a schedule.

Are supplies and equipment included?

The proposal specifies what MEI supplies and what the client supplies. Restroom paper goods, soap, liners, specialty chemicals, rentals, and unusual equipment requirements are addressed explicitly so expectations are clear.

Can you provide vendor documents?

Ask us for the documents required for your onboarding process, including a W-9 and current insurance information. Any project-specific insurance requirements are reviewed before a contract is finalized.

What if something needs attention?

Tell us promptly about a missed task or concern. Clear communication allows us to review the issue, agree on a practical response, and clarify any changes needed to the cleaning scope.

Do you offer water extraction and drying?

Contact MEI to discuss the situation and availability. The source of water, site conditions, and safety requirements determine the appropriate response. This service requires a site-specific assessment.

How do I receive a proposal?

Send us your property details or call to arrange a walkthrough. We then prepare a written proposal confirming the scope, schedule, exclusions, and terms before service begins.
